Pangolin Conservation Working Group Nigeria (PCWGN), 2016 ACTIVITIES


The primary mission of PCWGN is to ensure that pangolins are protected in Nigeria through collaborative efforts that includes, conservation education, awareness creation as well as research that helps us to understand their biology and ecology.

5TH WORLD PANGOLIN DAY - 2016

We unveiled and launched a poster for pangolin conservation and awareness in Nigeria, and inaugurated the Pangolin Conservation Working Group Nigeria (PCWGN).

These institutions were enlisted as PCWGN working partners- NESREA (National Environmental Standard and Regulations Enforcement Agency), FRIN (Forest Research Institute of Nigeria), NCF (Nigerian Conservation Foundation),  NPS (National Park Service), IITA (International Institute of Tropical Agriculture) forest Centre, Hunters Association Ibadan.

5th World Pangolin DayNick Austin, Political and Economic Officer United States Consulate, Lagos Nigeria also acting as Environment Officer visited the Vice Chancellor University of Ibadan, Prof Olayinka Idowu in preparation for WPD 2016.

ACTIVITIES OF PCWGN

We have rescued pangolins from being traded through the hunters with whom we work, and we gave the pangolins rubber-plastic tags before releasing them into a protected forest.
